This home is just miles from where I used to lived in Katonah NY and where Paradigm Building & Remodeling was based out of. We worked on this home as one of many different  contractors as part of large remodeling project done between 1999 and 2001 and what we provided was finishing work, installing woodwork, stair repairs, and stair railing etc around 25 years ago but we were not involved with the part of the project where this timber frame was erected other that loaning the timber frame crew tools from time to time.

That timber frame structure is NOT part of the original structure. It was erected inside the already existing structure as part of a remodel . It’s purely decorative. I wish I could remember the name of the guy and the company who did the frame but those names have gone lost in my memory. As I recall the frame was fabricated from both timbers taken from an older salvaged timber frame structure and new timbers that were distressed to make them look hand hewn and old.

As I recall the client who owned the home almost as soon as the remodel was done sold it friend to friend with no broker involvement for $19.95 million. It then sold again in 2017 and I don’t really know muck of anything about that deal.
I’ve been doing a lot searching for new housing that I can afford for my dog Janey and me so maybe that’s why Zillow thinks I want to buy a house in my old home town Katonah (seriously???).

This Zillow listing says the current owner conducted a more recent “extensive renovation” too. Since I am packing up getting in position to move I’ll have to find my old photo records some other time but I did find a few. I can already see a lot of what we worked on years ago has been remodeled over again which I while I think of the costs involved I personally think “that’s crazy” but knowing how the ultra wealthy think and act it doesn’t surprise me at all.

And twenty to twenty five years later it’s going for $29,500,000 which is almost 47% more than what the owner we worked for sold it for decades ago.

Maybe since we worked on the original remodeling way back when I was attached to it and I happened to also love that Gilded Age Adirondack Retreat look it once had I happen to think the new remodel destroyed the character it once had. What do you think?
