A local called me the other day and asked me about composite porch flooring.
There are various products out there from TimberTech, Deckorators, and Lumberock but I think I learn towards and prefer the Azek Timbertech. Every installation I have seen looks as good as it does on day one. While they are all good products ultimately what is going to really drive the homeowners choice is the color and “look & feel” of the sample board in that unlike a genuine wood porch floor you can’t paint or stain the boards to your own specific taste.
Hardwood & Stained Wood Looks Give your porch the refined look of premium hardwood with all the benefits of a durable capped polymer material. Our high-performance, low-maintenance porch boards are designed with a tongue-and-groove system for minimal gapping, giving you a smooth surface you’ll never have to sand, stain, or seal.
How-To Like any traditional American gardener, I’ve paid homage to the gods of turfgrass around my house. I’ll admit that lawns provide a place to rest the eye and showcase mixed borders; they also create a sense of order and safety around the house. But turfgrass is boring-not to mention high maintenance.
Mowing can be a monster. It eats up your precious weekend, guzzles gasoline, and pollutes air and waterways. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), gas lawn mower emissions account for 5% of the country’s air pollution. With low-maintenance grass alternatives that require little or no mowing, you can enjoy more free time and a verdant, eco-friendly lawn.
In a case of taking “the grass is always greener” a bit too literally, American homeowners have long strived to make their lawns brighter, lusher, and more velvety than their neighbors’. But all that competition has a devastating environmental impact.
The first building scientists were presumably our hominid ancestors who figured out that a cave would keep them dry in the rain and cool in the heat. A million or so years later, we started building houses, and that’s when the fun really began.
A collection of mudroom ideas to inspire your thinking…
Updated on January 3, 2022 If you’ve ever wondered how to keep the house from becoming a mess when you come in, you’ve probably thought about the need for a mud room. They can vary in size, but no matter what, they are helpful. Sometimes your needs are simple.
